Australasian Postgraduate Philosophy Conference - Victoria Uni Wellington - 6-8 Dec

victoria-university-wellingtonAPPC 2019:

In 2019 APPC will be hosted by Victoria University of Wellington from Friday the 6th of December to Sunday the 8th of December. The conference environment is laid back and is a great introduction to conferences for new graduate students. We encourage and welcome submissions from postgraduate philosophy students at all levels and any interested persons are welcome to attend.

The Australasian Postgraduate Philosophy Conference (APPC) is an annual conference that provides an opportunity for postgraduate philosophy students from Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore to present their work, debate their ideas, receive feedback from peers and form collaborations across institutions. Each year the Postgraduate Committee to the AAP is welcomes proposals from postgraduates from any institution in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore with a postgraduate philosophy programme to organise and host the APPC. The AAP is a professional organisation of academic philosophers based in Australasia. For more information visit:

Our keynote speaker, Vanessa Scholes, will open the conference at 5pm on Friday 6th December. Dr Scholes’ work focuses on practical & applied ethics, especially as regards discrimination, education and the public sector.

The conference will close at 3:30pm on Sunday 8th December with a talk by Professor Jaysankar Lal Shaw, one of the most eminent and internationally acclaimed comparative philosophers of our times.

Registration for the APPC is 10 NZD. The cafes are typically closed on weekends, so you may wish to order lunch for 12.50 NZD per day (or pack your own). We will also host a conference dinner in Wellington City on Saturday Night which will be an additional 30 NZD.

The Annual Conference of the New Zealand Association of Philosophers will be held at the University of Auckland’s City Campus, Auckland, New Zealand, from Sunday the 8th of December to Wednesday the 11th of December.

Note: Most of the events listed on the ASCP website are not hosted by the ASCP.  Events posted here are considered to be of interest to the Australasian continental philosophy community.
